April,
A while back I posted a question about whether a girl I was interested in was playing hard to get or just being nice. I had a hunch that there was a chance, but began to wonder. I backed off and did not contact her…evidently the lack of attention was killing her so SHE wrote to me. She started opening up about things she wants out of life. I opened up and told her that I find her aspirations to be very desired, in addition to hinting that she is a great person and I appreciate her for being so. She did not shy away from the compliment so I went for broke….
I hinted again about taking her out to dinner and then go to a concert at a small bar. She replied with a “Maybe I’ll let you take me out”. I wrote back and decided to put it all on the line….kinda like you advised me to do. I told her “I don’t know how to say this…so..I’ll just say it…I want to take you out on a date”. You know…avoid confusion that this is “friend time”.
To my surprise, she responded back with a “Ha, Ok, But you know what Dad says…No kissing on the first date”! With one of those smiling/winking faces next to it. This time she asked what time to be ready! I’m still pumping my fist!
April, thank you for your words of encouragement. There are no guarantees, but persistence pays! This girl is special…and one I’d like to get to know even more…even though I already know her from school….14 years ago. I’m not sure if I would have taken the correct steps to get the date, had I not contacted you. I know it sounds crazy, but when you find the girl of your dreams…it might just take a little encouragement to get you to act on that dream. I can’t ever thank you enough. 😀
