Me and this guy met during track season and became close friends. I am the type of person who has decided to stay pure and I don’t date. He respects my values and my morals with my religion. He told me that he liked me. He is 3 years older then me and he leaves for college at the end of this year so he knows that it would never be possible. I just told him last night that I do too because I believed that since he was honest then I should be too. I am not sure if I want to continue talking to him as friends and continuing our friendship because even though it is a very good one I know that eventually either both of our feelings will increase for each other and we won’t know what to do with them. I don’t want to hurt him more if I reject him later on when he wants to take the next step (dating). I want to just stop texting now so it doesn’t get more complicated down the road. He wants to continue texting because he trusts me and doesn’t want to lose our friendship because he has never had one like this before. He thinks that later on down the road we could date long distance and it be okay or we continue to be friends with no dating complications. I know that by stopping it and ending it that I will hurt him and I will lose him but I just don’t want to hurt him more later on. It will even hurt me but I will be less hurt now then if I did it later when I cared for him more. I know that by continuing to text we will both be playing with feelings that aren’t rational. What do I choose?
