My boyfriend of 7 months recently asked me to start dressing sexier for him, and I’m the kind of gal who frequently wears just jeans and a t-shirt, he said that since I dress more like a friend than a girl friend as of late it’s been hard for him to see me as a girlfriend, but rather just his very good friend. I mean I’ve been wanting to mix up the wardrobe a bit anyhow, but if I do now I’d feel like I’d be changing for him and that’s the last thing that I want to do is change who I am for a man. I do want him to be happy, and frankly I don’t want to be just his friend. So what do I do? Dress differently here and there, or tell him that if he can’t find me sexy no matter what I’m wearing that’s his own problem. Or am I just making this too big of a deal, are they just clothes?
Please, I’d really appreciate some help. Thank you.

Just my opinion, but maybe just spruce it up a bit. I mean don’t wear something you’re not comfortable in or something that you just don’t feel like yourself in but go for a more feminine look something that makes him look at you and realize he doesn’t just want to be your friend. Show some skin.

Dressing sexier doesn’t require that you wear spandex and spiky leather boots. You can look sexy while dressing casual too, without looking cheap. If you like wearing jeans and a t-shirt, make sure that both of these fit and there aren’t any holes or stains. Nothing is less sexy than a baggy sloppy oversized t-shirt with a cartoon character on the front. Jeans have to fit you and be suitable for your body type. Yes, you will have to try on a LOT of jeans, but when you find that style that looks good, the difference is incredible. Try some that are lower rise than you usually wear. Make sure that you’re not putting anything on display when you bend over though. If you want to emphasize your hips, get a wide leather belt with a distinctive and feminine buckle.

Well-fitted clothes show off your shape and are very sexy. By well-fitted I don’t mean tight, I mean something that you can move easily in but that curves where you do. One of my favorite summer tops is just plain dark green, with a high button V-neck and short sleeves, not too tight, perfectly respectable. But somehow, in the way it’s cut, it just says *FEMALE*! I’ve gotten so many compliments while wearing it… Rather than a regular t-shirt, try other types of tops. Try short sleeves or elbow length sleeves so you do show some skin, or a lower neckline than you usually wear. Put on a skimpy lacy camisole, than cover up most of it by layering with another top with sleeves, in a colour that looks good on you. Your boyfriend will know that he’s the only one that gets to see that lacy layer that the others only get glimpses of.

Take a day to go shopping with a girlfriend whose style you admire, and just try on clothes. Even if it doesn’t look particularly good on a hanger, try it on just for fun and you might be surprised. When you know you look sexy you will feel sexy, and that’s good for you as well as your boyfriend. Try watching a few episodes of “What Not to Wear” on TV – they will give you some good tips on how to do Sexy without doing Trashy.

If all else fails, buy a bunch of lacy underwear. Most men really appreciate the sight of a pair of flimsy knickers.

I love Guest’s advice!!

If your boyfriend asks you dial up your sexy dressing, why on earth would you stonewall him?? 😯 Relationships are about compromises, and this one seems like an easy one for you to make. Especially if you baby step into a new style. Don’t get defensive — that would be the common reaction, and I can tell you are more intelligent than that! 😉 He’s not rejecting you, so don’t hear his request as a rejection. Hear it for what it is: He loves you and wants to see a side of you that you don’t show others — or maybe him — come out. Consider his request, accept it, and start dressing a little bit more the way he wants.

There’s great advice in my book, Think & Date Like A Man, that you can download here: http://www.askapril.com/relationship-dating-advice/think-and-date-like-a-man.html on dressing sexy, making your home one that a man finds attractive and everything else you need to know about making a relationship with Mr. Right work, and become long-lasting.

You’ll get a lot of great advice out of this book, so I hope you’ll buy it (It’s only $15.95 and an immediate download, so you can start reading today!) and use what works for you, from the book.

I hope this helps.
