why has he constantly denied our relationship to business…

To remind you i had posted a question about my ex boyfriend who denied a relationship to a breeder, we are dog show handlers, when i spoke to that breeder she said he not only denied this relationship to her, but told everyone in the dog show world that there was never anything between him and I, why would he deny this to people? To remind you I had harassed him and affected his business, because I was upset with him. His lawyer knew about our relationship but people in the dog show world didn’t, please advise why would he hide our relationship like this?
