    Hi April and Everyone,

I guy Ive been talking to lately wants to go on a first date. We both live in the same city, and both agreed we’d like to go on a date. However, he wants me to go over to his house for a first date. I was thinking more dates like dinner, or a movie but he wants me to go over to his house and watch movies instead. At first I thought this was a little weird, but he explained it as why pay money to watch a movie in a theater when we could just watch them at home? Is this weird, or am I overreacting? He also said he likes the idea of a first date being in my house or his house because it takes the pressure off and doesn’t feel as “date-ish”

    What is your guys’ opinions??

    You’re not overreacting.

A guy who doesn’t want to impress you and make sure you have a good time, and to treat you specially — particularly on a first date — isn’t that interested in you. He’s being selfish. Buckle up for more the same if you continue with him. In addition, it’s never a good idea to go to a man’s home, when you’ve met him on the internet and don’t know anything about him. It’s just not safe. He really doesn’t have your best interests at heart.

(Imagine if a guy invited you to dinner on a first date and you showed up in sweats without make up on because, why bother and spend the time and money? See what I mean? It’s not a showing of someone who wants to please a partner.)

My advice is to move on. And trust your instincts. They’re good. 😉
