WHAT THE FORUM DOES

Founded and funded by April Masini, Relationship Advice Forum addresses three distinct global sociological needs at the same time.

FROM ENTRY LEVEL TO LEADERSHIP

The leadership training isn’t a slogan — it’s the story of this team. Every member of the Relationship Advice Forum team, with the single exception of our web developer, was hired at entry level. Every one has risen. Today, Syed, Rona, Mehnaz and Jay carry real leadership responsibilities. The others have each expanded into at least three different skill areas and keep learning more, taking on greater responsibility as they grow.

THE MENTORSHIP

"Never underestimate the power of someone believing in you. And when that someone is at a level deemed 'out of reach,' the power of their belief — total focus, undivided attention — is almost tangible."

At their six-month anniversary, a special gift becomes available to every team member: free, one-on-one sessions with a distinguished American mentor — retired C-suite aerospace executive Vicki Kosnoski, and, beginning June 22, decorated educator Ginger Kennedy. These are not tutors. They are leaders at the top of their fields — and English proficiency is only the doorway. In the same sessions, the people we develop are coached and mentored by someone they’d otherwise never have access to. The effect reaches far beyond language. They feel valued.

And it isn’t only sentiment — there’s a name for it. When someone a person reads as “out of reach” holds them in genuine high regard and gives them undivided attention, performance tends to rise to meet that belief. Psychologists call it the expectancy effect: belief from a credible source becomes self-fulfilling. It’s why the caliber of the mentor isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s the mechanism. A peer saying “you can do this” is encouragement. Someone at a level deemed out of reach saying it, with total focus, lands as proof.

Meet the Mentors

One broke ground in a man’s world. The other spends her days believing in the kids the world overlooks. Both quietly extraordinary.
