My ex and I have been on and off for about 2 years now. We decided to officially end things back in January but I cant seem to move forward or even want to. I have expressed my feelings with him and he says “maybe in the future” and so forth. I don’t know how to react or what to do I want to at least meet and talk I have a lot to say and he says he cares so much about me, how can I try and get him to listen? I am very very lost….!

It takes two people to make a relationship work, but only one to end it. When he doesn’t want to get together, and you do, the best you can do is to move on and heal. My advice is to focus your energy on positive things and on yourself. Surround yourself with family and friends who are supportive, upbeat, energetic and who will accompany you and introduce you to new people and experiences. Take care of yourself and start each day by smiling at everyone you meet — it’s an invitation to them to at least smile back, and maybe even start up a conversation.

I know you want to get back together, but he doesn’t. In addition, the two year relationship that broke up was “off and on” which indicates there wasn’t a strong commitment there to begin with. Rather than waste time, my advice is to move on.

I hope that helps. Please follow me @AskAprilcom on Twitter and on Facebook at this link: . 😀
