We’ve been dating for two years, and everything was great until her parents got involved. They think I’m “not good enough” because I don’t come from a wealthy family. Her mom openly disrespects me, and her dad refuses to talk to me. My girlfriend defends me when we’re alone, but in front of them, she stays silent. I don’t blame her it’s hard to stand up to your parents — but it hurts that she doesn’t have my back.
I love her and can see a future with her, but I don’t know if I can live with this constant tension. I’m tired of pretending it doesn’t bother me.
Should I confront her parents myself, or accept that this relationship might never be fully accepted?

I know it really hurts when her parents don’t seem to like you. It can make everything feel heavier than it should. Just remember, what matters most is the bond between you two. Keep being kind, patient, and genuine—show her love and respect, and try not to let their feelings shake your confidence. Over time, sometimes just being steady and caring speaks louder than anything else.

If you want, I can share a few small, easy ways to help ease the tension with them without forcing anything.
