okay so this boy and I have been talking a lot on facebook, for a few weeks, and we hung out yesterday and i really really like him, and he really really likes me, and my 14 month old son really likes him, and my son usually hates new people. anyway i really want to date him, and he wants to date me, but his ex-girlfriend is super crazy and obsessed with him, she literally stalks him, so he doesn’t want to ‘date’ me right now, but he wants us to be ‘really close friends’ not exactly FWB because we aren’t having sex, but we call each other baby and stuff like that, and we hold hands and kiss and what not but we aren’t actually boyfriend and girlfriend. my question is what do you think of this situation? should i just say whatever and walk away, even though i really don’t want to, and i feel really strongly for him? do you think that he will ever be ready to actually date?

Dating as a single parent is a lot different from dating as a parent without kids. Anyone you date, who affects you, affects your child, so you have to be a lot more careful than you would be if you weren’t a mother. So when this guy tells you, point blank, he doesn’t want to date you right now, listen to him. He’s easing you into a friends with benefits situation, and you’ll be stuck in emotional quicksand there. 😳

My advice is to find someone who wants to date you and is available to date you and who doesn’t have a “stalker” ex-girlfriend who might put you and your son in compromised situation.

Next! You can do better. 😀
