So I’m a 15 year old sophomore. There’s this guy in my German class. His name is mason. He does cross country and I’m in band and yearbook. I really like him and want to get to know him but I need advice. He just moved into our school in Nebraska from Michigan. He is a military family so he has moved around a lot. We’ve talked once. School got out and I was walking to the band room and he saw me and asked if I was the girl from German class who had to act in a funny skit (I was that girl). Then we talked about German class and said see ya tomorrow and left. About a 2min convo. I think I might have seen him looking at my in class before. Anyways I want to get to know him better. But I don’t have any guy friends, so no experience. How do I start talking to him and become friends. And once I know him better, how do I hint that I like him without being ready obvious or annoying or making a fool of myself? He seems really nice. The only time I see him is in German and sometimes in passing periods or after school with his cross country friends. Help! Thanks

First of all, a big smile when you see him is very inviting and will let him know you’re happy when he’s around. That’s going to be a boost to his self esteem and give him the courage to talk to you. 🙂 Next, small talk — or talk about little things like class, weather, and school are all ways to get to know him better. Guys love talking about themselves, so if you ask him about himself, his family, how he likes things — he’ll start talking about himself and he will probably ask you about yourself in return. 😉 Complimenting him is another way to let him know you like him. You can tell him he’s really good at something or funny or you like his sweater — all of these things will build a rapport with him. 😀
