I would not say it is normal. But I know male and females who are truly platonic and see each other as sister and brother even though they are not related. Do you know if she has a boyfriend?
I understand being uncomfortable about this situation. If they have ever been intimate in the past, I would say no it is not okay. But if she is truly his friend, and they have had sleep overs in the past and nothing has happened, you should trust him and let it happen.
