Should I keep hoping or just forget about it?

    Lately, I’ve become close to one of my brother’s friends. He got my email through my brother’s girlfriend, and then asked me for my number after hanging out the whole day. We got along that day so well even I could notice. Since then we’ve talked nonstop, and even hung out once. However, the problem is he’s 8 years older than me. It just feels sort of out there with him being my brother’s friend and older than me. But we’re able to talk about anything and everything. We share A LOT of the same goals and interests. At some points it feels like he hints at a possible relationship in the future (and we’ve talked about marriage in a sort of joking matter, but it still seemed serious) Should I keep my hopes up? Or just get my head out of the clouds?

    It sounds like to me you’ve really hit it off with this guy.. I don’t see what the problem is. Unless of course you are a minor! As long as that’s not the case I would continue to take it slow and see where it goes. Your older brother is friends with him so if he was a sleeze I doubt your big bro would be cool with him crushing on his little sis. As far as the age difference is concerned, I’ve always believed (and I think there’s a lot of people who can back me up on this one) that men mature much slower than women do. For a lot of women dating men 8 to 10 years older is very necessary in order to really connect on an intellectual level. It’s just one of the many differences between men and women. So like I said tread slowly and have fun while your at it.. he seems like a great guy.

    Yea, it made me feel better the fact that it wasn’t some random guy so having my brother (which there’s a 12 year age gap between and I but we’re really close. Which is why I figured I tend to like older guys) Very cool, I wasn’t sure if 8 years seemed to big of a gap, so that’s good to know. Thank you so much, I kind of had been contemplating this for while so this helped out a lot.
