You can’t control whether or not he develops feelings for you. That’s his life. You can only control your own behavior and adjust it to suit your feelings.

I don’t think you’re getting a mixed message at all — considering he’s only 20 and you’re 32. He’s probably not as experienced as you are when it comes to dating and he’s a little nervous about getting too involved too quickly, as he says, but he likes you enough to chat a lot.
