i have been seeing someone who is separated for about 8 months.
we met 2 months ago. Timing was way too soon, but didn’t want to pass on someone that was too good.
He hasn’t filed papers yet, but says he is going to.
What’s weird is that he and ex share a dog that they switch off every other week or so. I just think it’s weird to keep in contact with your ex if no children were involved. I’m all for loving your pet, but I kinda feel like this is the thread he hangs onto. THey do have to talk to work out their impending divorce details and that I understand.
But it seems like that never comes up.
also, she will come by his place to take care of the dog when he works late at the hospital. she has the code to the garage to let herself in.
He tells me there is no chance of them getting back together and I am sure of that. But I think he isn’t letting go.

Many people treat their pets like children, and while joint custody of a dog may seem odd, it’s actually a situation that some divorced people find themselves in, so that’s not necessarily a yellow warning light.

It is odd that no papers have been filed in your boyfriend’s divorce. In fact, many people say they’re separated because they are living separate lives from their spouses, but the legal reality is that depending on what state you live in, legal separation papers need to be filed with the court only after which time (sometimes six months), a divorce may then begin to be granted. So educate yourself on divorce in your state, and the state of your boyfriend’s divorce before you invest any more of your own heart in someone who is still legally married.
