Member #355,302My friend and i are both in 9th grade and i really like her a lot. Im lesbian and she’s bi (well, she says she hasn’t really been liking girls lately). The last girl she liked was me. I found out she liked me a few months ago, but then i was in a relationship so i guess she got over her crush on me. but now, i’ve been single for 2 months and i told her i liked her a few weeks ago. But nothing really has changed between us. Our friendship is weird, its based on insulting and being mean to each other lol but in a joking way. But before i told her i liked her we didnt have conversations with just me and her, since we have the same group of friends the only way we’d talk would be in group conversations. And she’d deny me in everyway, I’d ask for something, the answer was always no or why the hell was i even around…thats the usual way between us but it got to a point where i thought she was really being serious. Then, at my bestfriends party after things had died down we were on the bed alone and i ended up kissing her on her neck and by her face it seemed like she enjoyed it. (well we had been smoking that night, just having fun). The next day i told her i liked her. And i noticed now she starts up conversations with me and we laugh alot more together. Everythings fine except the fact that she still seems like she has something against me.Like, i say something flirty or cute while we’re texting and she tells me ‘O.’ or “get out of here’ or ‘haha , gay ass”. And its funny, but it kinda sucks that she doesnt flirt back. idk if she likes me and just doesnt want to come my way again or genuinely doesnt like me. Before, when she had a thing for me and we were texting saying goodbye it was a ‘Sweet dreams <3″ or a joking “i hope u get attacked in your sleep :)” kind of thing. but now when i say goodnight or sweet dreams she either doesnt reply or just says “night” or whatever. when she liked me, and the girl i was with at the time broke up with me (temporarily, we got back together soon after) I held my crushes hand, and we were holding hands walking to lunch. I guess i kinda had a thing for her since we met but my ex was just in the way…but any way now, its like if i grabbed her hand she’d be like ‘what the hell are you doing” or give me a look and let my hand go. I guess i just want to be more than friends with her, And get her to want to take the next step for me, and get her to like me again. but i’m not surre how to do that. How do i get out of this friend zone??

April Masini, your AskAprilKeymasterThe best way to get out of the friend zone is to stop being her friend and only treat as you would a potential girlfriend. That will clear things up a lot more quickly, but it also risks rejection. You have to be ready for that. If she’s not interested in you as a girlfriend, then it’s best to move on and not stick around because that puts you exactly where you don’t want to be — in the friend zone, hoping to leverage friendship into something more. Member #355,302Thanks for the reply 🙂 But, if i treated her like a girlfriend..like the niceness and everything, wouldnt that make me less desireable and seem easy to get?March 9, 2013 at 3:30 pm #22933
April Masini, your AskAprilKeymasterYou mis-read my response. I didn’t say treat her like a girlfriend. I said treat her like a potential girlfriend. In other words, treat her like someone you want to date and not like a friend. If you ask her out on a date, and make a date by no uncertain terms, you’ll know whether she wants to date you or not. If she does, then you proceed in dating mode. If she doesn’t, then step away from her as a friend. Don’t act like a friend; don’t be around like a friend. If you want to get out of the friend zone, then don’t be that friend that you’re pretending to be in order to leverage the relationship into a romance.😉 [b]Check out my new FB Fan Page!!
