I met this really nice guy who’s a distant relative in family gatherings. I am 19 and he is 30. At first I didn’t feel anything but later I realised that I really liked him as a person. He’s a wonderful person.
Then when I was back home, I did fine for some time. But now I dont know what but i keep thinking about him all the time. But he doesn’t have the slightest idea that i am so into him. Now he’s in another country and I only have his email id. I just sent him a decent new year msg. I have exams to prepare for and I am pretty serious to score well. But this is such a distraction. It seems as if I’ll mess if it doesnt stop. What to do? If I pray to God day and night, will there be some miracle and will he start liking me? I am so confused. My situation is getting worse. Any advice what to do? And yeah I am a Muslim, so it’s okay to marry in some relations in the family.

    You have two issues:

    1. You like a man who hasn’t really shown any interest in you. 😳 You sent him an e-mail — now he has your contact information, so if he wants to contact you, he will. But I’d like you to manage your expectations. 😉 Most 30 year old men won’t really consider a relationship with a 19 year old who is still in college. The reason is that there is so little in common between the two. But in your situation, the distance is another obstacle that will probably win out. 😳 He’s probably someone who wants to date and have an in-town relationship. Long distance relationships aren’t appealing to most people, so you shouldn’t count on this working out. It’s not you — it’s the compatibility between a big life experience gap and a big distance gap.

    2. You’re distracted. 😮 The best way to get your mind focused on whatever it is you want to do (in your case final exams and college), is to change your chemistry and your surroundings. If you’re sitting in your dorm room, bored, your mind will wander. Instead, exercise, take up a sport, and go to the library or a coffee shop to study. Don’t allow your mind idle wandering. Instead, start engaging yourself by shopping and cooking healthfully, giving yourself a makeover, meeting up with study buddies, etc.

I know your heart is stung, but you need to do the work to move past this moment. 😀
