I’m going to guess you’re close to high school age — it really helps when posters tell me their ages! When you’re in high school or you’re in college, labels matter a lot more than they do in the larger and more amorphous communities you’ll find yourself in where everyone around you doesn’t see you so often! Folks in high school and college like to know if relationships are official or not so they can know if a person is “taken” or “off limits” because dating is so prevalent. That’s the only reason to be “official” after one week of hanging out.
However….what I recommend is that you start dating instead of hanging out. When you ask a girl to go out on an official date, she knows that you’re interested in her — enough to take her out! 🙂 I know this may seem old fashioned to you, but your need for a label is normal — however, being official after hanging out isn’t necessarily the best way to “take her off the market” if that’s what you want to do.
You’re not too young to read Date Out of Your League, a book I wrote for men who want to do well with women. It’s $14.95 and it downloads immediately so you can start reading now. You’ll get a broader perspective of what’s to come with dating — and how to do well with women. I think you’ll get a lot out of this quick read. 😀
So while I don’t think you’re “official” after a week, I do think it’s time for you to start being a boyfriend and seeing if she wants to be your girlfriend by asking her out on a date, that leads to another date that leads to getting to know each other on a more mature, romantic level.
I hope that helps! Let me know how it goes — and please join me on Facebook! Here’s the link for AskApril.com on Facebook: . 🙂
