Hi guys, I’m here right now to share something and ask for your thoughts because I feel like my boyfriend and I have communication problems. We’ve been together for 3 years. I’m usually the one who says “I love you” first and sends sweet messages more often, while he seems emotionally reserved and not very sweet through texts. But I can still feel his love through his actions, like driving me to and from work and giving me flowers during special occasions. Even so, I still want to hear sweet words from him like “I love you” or “I miss you.” I think we just have different ways of communicating in our relationship.

People really aren’t all the same when it comes to how they show love. For me, it’s actually better when you can see it through actions rather than just words. The fact that he drives you to and from work is already really sweet.
But if you want to get what you need emotionally, just tell him. I don’t think it’s a big deal to ask him to say “I love you” or “I miss you” more often.

I think as long as things are okay between you two, there’s nothing you should really worry about. If he’s still sweet during special occasions, that should already be enough. There are really guys who aren’t that expressive or showy when it comes to sweetness, but deep inside, they actually love you a lot—they’re just not very expressive.

Just talk to each other since communication is the issue. You really just need to have an honest conversation to resolve it. Make sure it’s calm and not filled with blaming each other for past actions, so you can both understand each other better.
