I have a coworker named Nico. I’m still new at the company, so I don’t really know many people yet or have close friends there. But Nico is very friendly and approachable. He greets me every morning, saves me a seat during lunch breaks, and sometimes we walk together to the parking lot after work. Whenever I look stressed or quiet at my station, he brings me snacks or asks if I’m okay. He’s very caring and thoughtful, and I honestly can’t tell if he acts that way only toward me or if he’s like that with all of our coworkers. What do you think, how do I know if he truly likes me or is just being friendly?

For a new employee, I don’t think that’s just simple friendliness. I think he’s trying to get your attention and impress you. But to be sure, wait for him to be the one to tell you that he likes you. For now, just let things flow naturally. If you like him too, you can show a few signs that you’re interested so he can get a clue that he has a chance. That might also give him the confidence to finally admit his feelings.

It’s not really a good idea to ask him directly because what if he doesn’t actually like you? You might just end up embarrassed. Maybe it’s better to wait for him to tell you if he likes you. I also think he really does like you, considering the way he treats you. If he were just being friendly, you would probably notice him acting that way toward everyone else too.
