Hi April ~
I was referred to a medical specialist by my regular veterinarian mid-last year. Up until a couple of months ago my cat was still being seen by this specialty office. While I found myself thinking about this person during the time of our visits, I now find myself thinking about him frequently and I’m stumped as to what I can do from this point, if anything.
My “baby” passed and I received a nice card from him and the staff. I sent each of the two doctors a thank you card as well as the support staff. I included some very subtle opportunities for him to respond to my card but nothing came of it (whether he’s involved with someone, didn’t pick up on my hints, not interested — I don’t know).
Because of the professional “relation” at the time, I didn’t want to make things awkward or cross any line so I didn’t make my interest known in any way although, after reading your book, it’s very likely I would have not approached it in a successful manner.
Since the card exchange, I made a trip to that office to see a different specialist for my other cat. I saw and talked with a couple of the folks referenced above and we chatted for awhile (I had a very good rapport with that entire group). As fate would have, I did not see the one I was hoping to see — actually, I’m not sure if he was in the office that day.
The burning question is — given the circumstances of this situation, is there anything I can do to let my interest be known yet stay within the boundaries and rules outlined in your book?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
