abanicaMember #66,939Hi April ~
I was referred to a medical specialist by my regular veterinarian mid-last year. Up until a couple of months ago my cat was still being seen by this specialty office. While I found myself thinking about this person during the time of our visits, I now find myself thinking about him frequently and I’m stumped as to what I can do from this point, if anything.
My “baby” passed and I received a nice card from him and the staff. I sent each of the two doctors a thank you card as well as the support staff. I included some very subtle opportunities for him to respond to my card but nothing came of it (whether he’s involved with someone, didn’t pick up on my hints, not interested — I don’t know).
Because of the professional “relation” at the time, I didn’t want to make things awkward or cross any line so I didn’t make my interest known in any way although, after reading your book, it’s very likely I would have not approached it in a successful manner.
Since the card exchange, I made a trip to that office to see a different specialist for my other cat. I saw and talked with a couple of the folks referenced above and we chatted for awhile (I had a very good rapport with that entire group). As fate would have, I did not see the one I was hoping to see — actually, I’m not sure if he was in the office that day.
The burning question is — given the circumstances of this situation, is there anything I can do to let my interest be known yet stay within the boundaries and rules outlined in your book?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
June 10, 2011 at 11:28 pm #18360My advice is to get a new pet — one that needs a lot of veterinarian visits. 😉 Adopting a pet at a shelter is a great way to rescue an animal, replace your beloved and late kitty, and start seeing the object of your interest again and often! Consider a different type of animal this time — one that’s a lot more high maintenance and needs your vet’s attention.😆 Of course, finding out which Starbucks this guy goes to may be a lot less work, but if you can’t locate his regular coffee spot, it may be time to consider another creative measure like this one!
😀 Hope that helps, and that you’ll follow me @AskAprilcom on Twitter and on Facebook at this link:
