Hey,

I’m 16 and have never had a girlfriend. People have told me I’m good looking and have a nice personality, but every time there’s a girl I’m interested in, she just won’t be into me.
Often it seems as if she starts liking me, but then stops after a little while. I’ve also had some real confidence issues recently, and as I’ve tried to fix them and make myself happier, the realisation hits me again that I really want a girl to have a physical relation ship with, love and be loved by, always be comfortable with etc.
It really gets me down. Maybe I come off as desperate, I just don’t know what the problem is.
You wouldn’t happen to have any advice for me and others in similar situations?

Don’t worry about rejection — it just takes one YES from the right girl to launch you onto cloud nine, so keep going. That said, girls like guys who aren’t too available. I know that sounds backwards, but the truth is, girls like guys who aren’t always ready and willing and who are mysterious, so you may want to try not being “there” so much. Second, girls like guys who are confident, and if you ask a girl out to a movie or to go bowling you’re going to appear to be very confident — in a way that guys who just kind of hang around waiting for the girl, don’t project. So try moving forward instead of worrying about whether or not she likes you.

Remember, dating is about getting to know if a girl you like enough to ask out, is someone you want to spend more time with. It’s a process, not an end in itself.
