Hi Everyone,

I have been with my girlfriend for well over a year but during that year I lied to her. I betrayed her trust by messaging inappropriate things to other people. She thus found out and it has as would be obvious caused alot of bad tension between us and it has hurt her greatly. I am trying to reassure her that this will never happen again and that I will never cheat on her, I have not cheated on her but it seemed I wanted to. I just want to show her that I am in love with her and that I will never hurt her again or be who I was during the out time together. What should I do?

There is no simple bandaid fix. What will work is time. If, over time, she sees that you are loyal and committed, and she understands why you did what you did, and that the reason for your doing it no longer exists, she’ll feel better about the relationship and you’ll earn her trust. In the meantime, figure out why you lied, and how you can stop from doing this kind of thing. This unfortunate situation can be an opportunity for personal growth. 🙂
