Hi April,
I dated a guy for almost 2 years.. We met online and instantly had a connection. He is in the military at a nearby base (an hr away). We had a great relationship with normal ups and downs. He was PCS’d to a different state about a year into our relationship so we did long distance for 6 months most of the time he was out in the field, but somehow we managed to see each other monthly. Then in February he deployed and is still currently overseas. However on the morning of his deployment he called me drunk and crying and told me he wanted to end our relationship. He had told me he was severely depressed and told me a lot of alarming things. I called his parents and they spoke to him and smoothed things over enough to not call his commander. He left and sent me a long text message about how sorry he was and how he still loves me and always will. Well he did not speak to me for 2 months after breaking up with me, leaving me devastated I emailed him, texted him just trying to get closure of sorts. All while remaining in contact with his family. In April he emailed me and told me how sorry he was, but that he just wanted to be alone and focus on himself and his career. We have kept in touch and normally he would write me once every 2 weeks or a month. Recently we have been talking daily, he has been asking me questions about my plans and he has been very supportive. He also has been recently liking things on my Facebook. I understand that when he left he was not in a good mindset, but now I believe he is back to normal and I would be willing to work things out as I miss him dearly. What would you suggest I do ? I know military and long distance relationships are very sensitive matters.
