I met Rhian on a dating app, and we’ve been texting and calling for almost 3 months now. We update each other almost every day. Just yesterday, we talked and agreed to finally meet in person, so tomorrow will be our first actual date. Honestly, I’m a little shy about meeting her in person because I’m worried she might get bored with me since I’m not the type of guy who talks a lot right away. I’m really shy in person, so I feel like I need to prepare for our first date tomorrow. What advice can you give me?

Just be natural. The more you overthink negative things, the more it will affect how you act. So just go with the flow—the conversation will naturally go wherever it leads.

It’s also good to open topics that you know she’s interested in. That’s why it helps to learn what she likes, for example her favorite food, favorite sports, hobbies, and other interests.

For me, you just need to be natural and show who you really are—just be genuine. There’s nothing wrong with being shy, especially since it’s your first time meeting.

As you get to know each other more on your next meetings, you’ll definitely become more confident.
