A year ago I met this guy and became friends with him. Few months after being friends he talked me into the idea of “dating” Of course I shrugged it off at first since I just thought relationships were always so complicated but he was nice so I decided to give it a try. Well, we dated for a few weeks and then I decided to break it off since he became over bearing. He would always check on me constantly and his favorite question was “Have I talked to any other guys?” He did not approve of me having guy friends or just talking to guys in general. We have been on and off ever since and some days I just want to move on but then I also care about him a lot. I recently moved to another state hoping that my feelings would go away but we end up talking to each other again. I always choose to see the good in him but the past few months if we are on bad terms he would call me names like slut, whore, and a bitch while we had an argument going. After he calms down, he’ll say he didn’t mean any of it but he was just mad at the moment. Do you think his attitude will ever change? Or is he going to constantly call me names when we do argue?

His attitude will not change unless you do. 😉 If you allow someone to call you names like “slut, whore and bitch” then they will continue to do so. If you don’t enable this behavior, then his attitude may change. 😉

As for your title questions….obviously, you should move on. 🙄 I’m sure you know it, and you’re looking for me to tell you what you instinctively feel — that anyone who’s overbearing, always asks you if you’ve talked to other men, and then calls you derogatory names — is no one’s Mr. Right. You could do better easily.

Thank you so much. I guess it is time for me to let go and quit hoping he will change.
