Hi,
So i’m a 20 yr old guy and there is this girl who is studying in my college but for another course. I was interested in her the moment i saw her. There were lots of guys trying to ask her out. I too would have tried to talk to her to get to know her better, but i had just gotten out of a year long relationship and i didn’t quite feel like dating then. It was a confusing time for me as i didn’t know whether to patch up with my ex or to move on and ask other girls out. During this time, One day we were at this function our college was hosting and we were volunteers. I saw her struggling with something and i immediately went to help her out. Like i said, since i was still recovering from my previous relationship, I just helped her out, smiled at her as she thanked me and walked off. Another reason why i didn’t talk much to her was I knew that a lot of guys were behind her and i wanted to stand out. Like i said, it was a confusing time.

After a few days, i noticed that she was following me with her friends everywhere and i always noticed her looking at me. I got the hint that she might like me but i didn’t ask her out, or even talk to her for that matter. Then within those few days, i heard the news that she had broken up with her current boyfriend. And i guessed from the stares and seeing her everywhere that she might want me to ask her out. But i made the mistake of not asking her out then. She continued giving me looks and following me with her friends for a few weeks but after that all of a sudden, she stopped.

Now a few months later, im ready to date again but i find that she is in a relationship. Please note that i still haven’t talked at all to her. I added her on facebook and she accepted the request. I tried to randomly talk to her one day on facebook and she replied but i could tell that she didn’t want to talk. I even wished her in facebook on her birthday but she didn’t reply. Everytime i see her, i give her glances and she glances back. She is never alone so i can’t go up and talk to her. Even if i go up to her, i don’t know what to talk about as it is awkward after talking on facebook.

What should i do to let her know i am interested in her without looking too needy? Will she give me a chance again?
Please help as i really don’t know what to do in this particular situation.

You should make small talk with her and flirt with her — that’s how you get on her radar screen, aside from admiring looks across a room. Then after you’ve established a rapport with her, simply ask her if she’d like to go to a movie with you on Saturday or if she’d like to have dinner with you. It’s pretty simple, but until you do it, you’re going to anticipate all the things that could go wrong. Eliminate that by simply forging ahead. It sounds like she thinks you’re attractive, which is a good start. Now you have to show her you’re not afraid, and you’re interested enough to compete for her. 😉

Thanks for the reply. So i just go up and talk. But i can’t help but keep wondering whether i came off creepy with all the eyeing and facebook chatting. Did i? Should i just keep that feeling aside and just talk to her?

Whether or not you came off as creepy is less important now, than whether you ask her out on a date or not. 😉 If you did come off as creepy, either she’ll say no because she was offended or creeped out, or she’ll say yes because she’ll think she may have made a mistake and prejudged you. Or, she may not have thought you were creepy at all! 🙂
