My boyfriend went to his brother’s wedding this weekend and b/c of money troubles I couldn’t go with him. I decided to surprise him when he got home by clean out our entire closet(which was a mess 😛). I found this little jewelry box in his graduation stuff from high school. I was curious what it was and opened it and it had a chain with his name on it which i thought was cute but there was this letter in there too that was date in ’03. I know I shouldn’t have opened it but i did and read the first few lines. I put it away the second I found out it was about a fight he and this girl had and she was apologizing. Now I know It was from HS and a long time ago and he doesn’t have feelings for this girl and he would never cheat and none of that is why i got upset. I got really jealous of what this girl said and how she called him baby and all that. How do I get over feeling jealousy over something that he probably doesn’t even remember he has?

You didn’t go snooping — you stumbled on this letter and gift accidentally. You should tell your boyfriend what happened and tell him how silly it is that you’re jealous about a girl from 8 years ago, but you can’t help but feel that way! Laugh at yourself because you know that people have relationships from the past that lead them to be able to be where they are now, but also tell him how you feel without putting him on the defense. My guess is that he’ll put you at ease by filling you in on that relationship and why he’s with you — and not anyone else — now.
