Hey everybody,

I’m sure you’ve all heard this one before, but I really am at the end of my rope here. I’m a 20-year-old college kid who works all summer and goes to college the rest of the time. I’m a kind, honest, down-to-earth person. My looks are average, not drop-dead gorgeous but not ugly. My problem is, whenever I ask someone out, after one date or so they give me the “You’re a nice guy, but” speech. The problem seems to be that girls simply aren’t attracted to me, and I don’t understand why.

I’m not a partier. I don’t drink or enjoy live music. I’m a bit of a nerd. I’ve been dating girls who have roughly similar interests, though, so I don’t think that’s the problem. I think I might be too nice. I tend to be very flexible to what they want and ask how they feel and what they want to do. I’m honest about how I feel, and I treat them with respect. I’ve been told that these are qualities women like. Have I been misinformed, or am I missing something else?
