So I was alone with this girl who I kind of like the other day and I asked her if she could ask anyone any question she wanted what would it be. She said she would ask God who she should marry because she finds the whole dating game really frustrating. I have known her for a while and I try to show her lots of interest but sometimes my shyness predominates and I just try to hide my feelings. On her part she has always been really encouraging expressing how she thinks I’m funny, intelligent, and mature. Does this seem like a hint that I should just get a move on and be a little more clear with her and maybe ask her on a date or could this simply be something one friend would say to another of the opposite gender.

I’m not sure how old you are, but it sounds like you have a fear of rejection. Trying to hide your feelings from her isn’t going to advance romance, and the only reason you might be doing that is so you can shield yourself against the possibility of rejection. In the meantime, you’re sinking into the friend zone. 😕 It does sounds like she likes you, but how much, is going to be determined by your asking her out on a date. If she says yes, then you’ll have some good evidence that she likes you enough to date! If she says no, then you’ll know it’s just friend zone “like” and you can move on. Either way, by asking her out, you’ll know more and you’ll be able to adjust your own behavior to get what you want — with her, or someone else. 😉

    I hope that helps.
