Dear April,

I’ve been seeing a man for a year now. Out of the blue I asked him, ‘ I could go to dinner with Michael?” Now, Michael is my half brother whom is coming into town for the Holiday season and my family is having dinner with him. His reply was, ‘ Yes, go. I am working late at the shop tonight.’

My first thought was, why would any man tell their S/O to go ahead on to a dinner date with some strange man without even knowing the facts of just whom this guy is? When I asked him this he simply stated, ‘ Because I trust you and you have never asked of me this before.’

Now, is it fair to assume that his word is good or should I read further into this? A little history: We have had some ups and downs. He hasn’t been the most faithful nor, the most honest. He is know making amends to make sure that he can be trusted and I can see the change. However, one never forgets.

You’re testing him. 😕 And that never amounts to anything good. 😳 It’s basically like picking a fight. You asked him if you could go out with your half brother (not a strange man — a relative), and he said yes. There’s no problem here. Don’t create one. 🙁
