    Hi
Let’s say my best friend is Tom, and his girlfriend is Jane. Both are in love with each other.

Tom: He’s a great catch for any women; comes from a very orthodox and conservative family.

Jane: Nice girl, divorced with one child who is 8 years old.

Tom’s mother and his family members oppose Tom’s idea to marry Jane as they feel she is not the right girl for him, and also cos she’s a divorcee with a child, and they want him to find another single girl. Despite his family’s opposition, Tom is willing to marry Jane, but at the same time he cannot take in Jane’s child as that would completely cut all ties to his family. So he’s willing to marry Jane, but cannot take her child in. Jane understands this and so she even went to the extent of transferring custody of her child to her parents (child’s grandparents) and now has nothing to do with the child. And the child’s father had abandoned the child even before birth.

In fact, a lot of friends have been advising Tom to reconsider his idea of marrying Jane. The reason being that, it is not right for Jane to just walk away from her child because she wants a better life, and also how this might adversely affect the child’s personality (he already does not have a father)

Now Tom being the decent guy he is; is in a dilemma. Should he marry Jane without the child or should he just walk away leaving Jane to her child??

Tom is not a great catch. He’s a loser. 😕 Any man who would be okay with a woman giving up custody of her child because he wants to please his parents isn’t ready for marriage. And any woman who would go along with this has terribly low self esteem and will probably make more bad decisions like this one — but that’s the type of woman that very selfish men will look for to marry. 😥
