My boyfriend broke up with me because he “thought of me as just a friend, and would be miserable dating me.” However, the next morning he called me to come pick him up (he was drunk and needed a ride home). On the ride back, he drunkenly told me he made a mistake and did indeed think of me as more than a friend. I talked to him when he sobered up later, and he said it wasn’t just the alcohol talking, however he said he needed time. That evening, he took me out to dinner, kissed me goodbye, and told me he would call.

I’m confused by the mixed signals he’s sending. He knows I didnt want to break up with him, and would do anything for him. How should I handle this? Should I let him regret his mistake and move on, or should I give him some space and let him decide if we will get back together?

How old are you both? How long have you been dating?

We are both in our early 20’s and have dated for a few months.

Recently he’s decided that he wants to take things slow, so while we are going out, it’s not official anymore. Just recently though he invited me to dinner, but I couldn’t get ahold of him that night. It’s now been almost two days and he’s not responded to a text or call from me. He invited me to go away with him this coming weekend…. But I feel like him going MIA is a terrible sign. Am I right? What should I do?. 🙁

Put on your Reeboks and run! This guy is not that into you. These aren’t mixed signals. They’re very clear signals that he’s not into you. He’s using you if you’re around when he wants you. Forget him. Eat your self-esteem Wheaties and read Think & Date Like A Man, https://www.askapril.com/relationship-dating-advice/think-and-date-like-a-man.html, (you can also buy it on the websites for Barnes & Noble and Amazon) so you can understand how to find, get and keep Mr. Right.

And until then, remember that if a guy say he’d rather be friends because “he’d be miserable dating you” — 😯 — this is not a friend or a date. This is someone you should stay away from. When a man says he doesn’t want to date you, walk away and find someone who does. Don’t pick up guys who are drunk (who’ve just told you they’d be miserable dating you) and don’t listen to their drunken rants (especially when they said they’d be miserable dating you within 24 hours!).

This is Mr. Wrong. You can do a lot better! Buy Think & Date Like A Man, https://www.askapril.com/relationship-dating-advice/think-and-date-like-a-man.html, read it, and THEN let me know how things are going. If you stay in touch with this guy, you’re not going to be happy or healthy. 😳 Move on.
