I am 26 and work a professional health care job. We recently hired a girl who works in a different department and different hours than me and we met her first day and hit it off almost immediately. We have been e-mailing at work and texting outside of work as well as casually getting together for drinks for about a month now and she told me a week after we met that she does in fact have a boyfriend. There has been no physical activity at all between us and we have both made that clear that there wont be any as long as she is still with her boyfriend. I think we have a strong mutual attraction and she has expressed some displeasure with her current boyfriend and that she does not see him as “the one”. She told me she does love him but they dont see eye to eye on a lot of issues that are important to her which are dealbreakers. I believe based on what she has told me that a breakup in inevitable but I do not know when this will occur. She is currently seeing a therapist regarding this situation for advice on how to handle this but she hasn’t told me anything besides that she needs to have a discussion soon with her bf. We have incredible chemistry and we have the same goals in life which makes this very frusterating for me. My question is should I continue to stay in the picture and hope she breaks up with her current boyfriend soon or should I stop interferring altogether?
You’re in the friend zone. 😕 I never think it’s a good idea for men and women to be friends with each other because one person always wants more than the other! My advice is that you stop being her buddy and start being the man she could date if she was single! 😉
