My boyfriend and i have only been together a couple months. We’ve had a thing for over a year but he’s never committed to a relationship because he never used to know what he wanted. But, recently we finally got together and the relationship has been amazing ever since. However, in the past week he’s become really stressed about school work and other things and so has become quite distant. we have barely been speaking and i only feel like he’s been texting me when he has to so to not make it look like he’s ignoring me. Even though i know it’s not about me, i can’t help but feeling like i’m just an extra burden to him right now and he’s making me feel like a really needy clingy girlfriend when that’s not me at all (even though he hasn’t said anything). I have exams this year as well so i equally need to work, but his parents put more pressure on him and i’m much better and working out a balance between work and relaxation. I want to talk to him about it, but because of our insecure past i’m scared it’ll stress him out more and make him dump me. It makes me feel like i can’t talk to him about any of my problems now, or even text him when i fancy a chat, because he has stuff to do and i’ll feel like i’m distracting him – i don’t want to make him resent me for it. I am more than happy to give him more space but i just want to establish some boundaries with him so i can feel more secure with the extra space. The last thing i want is to lose him, but i don’t know how to make him relax and realise that he can balance work and me and his relaxation time. PLEASE HELP.
