Is it okay to date someone who is much older than me?

    Hi April,
I’m 23 and I’ve started talking to a guy I really like. The thing is, there is a big age gap between us, he is way older than me (he is 34) and I’m not sure if that’s a dealbreaker or something we could work around. I like him a lot and we get along really well but I keep overthinking if this could cause problems later on.
I want to be realistic about the challenges without overanalyzing every little thing. How do you know if dating someone in a situation like this is actually healthy or worth trying? Are there signs it could work or red flags I should watch for?

There’s nothing wrong with an age gap as long as you both love each other, like each other, and you’re not hurting or stepping on anyone else.

As for whether it’s worth trying, you’ll only really know that once you try it. No one can tell you for sure if it’s worth it or not without actually experiencing it. It really depends on the situation.

Red flags don’t really have anything to do with age, especially since both of you are already legal adults. A relationship is healthy as long as you get along in many ways, your relationship isn’t toxic, and you both have trust, love, and faithfulness toward each other. What matters most is that both of you can see yourselves together in the future.
