Trust that the children will understand in time what’s really going on. You’re not the first guy or the last guy to live in that house with her and try to take care of them. I know it’s hard to believe, but you’re going to fade into the background of the children’s’ memories. There will be other men in their lives and with any luck, they’ll get involved in school, sports, the arts, their own social lives, and won’t want to be around the house very much. She’s definitely not taking good care of the kids, but there’s not a lot you can do about that. 😳
